The global industries have realized that the ability to consistently define and deliver products to the market place more rapidly and efficiently than their competitors can become a source of sustainable competitive advantage. These companies have moved their view to product design and development capability as an end to end business process that can be greatly enhanced through reengineering and can be continuously improved through total quality management.

In this environment in the year 2006 the Department of Mechanical Engineering NIT Warangal started an M.Tech Programme titled Machine Design to prepare the human resources.

The first two semesters cover course work facilitating the students to learn both fundamentals and recent advances in various core and elective subjects supported by laboratory courses, which include Numerical Simulation Laboratory, CAD Laboratory, Computer Aided Analysis Laboratory and Rapid Prototyping Laboratory. The third and fourth semesters are earmarked for Dissertation Work. Students are generally encouraged to do their projects in industries, wherever there are chances of exposure to various avenues. Those, who work in the Institute, take up both theoretical (analytical or numerical) and experimental dissertation works. The students are able to publish their work in journals or conferences of repute.

The primary objective of the programme is to train the students in Machine Design field by imparting broad based training on the state of the art engineering design methods analysis tools and manufacturing processes. With this training we expect the students to become powerful practitioners of product designers. The knowledge gained by the students in this course is an effective and practical, immediately applicable to today’s design challenges in the industry.

Admission Requirements:

B.E. /B. Tech in Mechanical/Production/Automobile/Industrial Engineering with a valid GATE score.
