During the year 2003 the MHRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi formed a “Consortia-based subscription to Electronic resources for Technical Education” and named as INDEST (Indian Nationals Digital Library in Engineering Science and Technology), its head quarters are at I.I.T., Delhi and receiving about 2000 online Journals. The on-line Journals that are available through INDEST-AICTE, NITs consortium and NITW.

But, in the year 2016, based on the recommendation of expert committee, the MHRD has formed e-Shodh Sindhu merging three consortia initiatives, namely UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, NLIST and INDEST-AICTE Consortium. The MHRD has given responsibility to INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, to look after all activities of Online e-resources and receiving about 3000 online Journals.
The e-Shodh Sindhu will continue to provide current Online as well as Online archival access. The on-line Journals that are available through e-Shodh Sindhu and NITW.
The Central Library is connected to the CAMPUS LAN. The Library server works under windows XP environment. Subsequently, the house keeping operations and services such as Acquisition entries, Serial Control, Circulation of books, using of Barcode system for issue and return of books have been computerized. The faculty members can access the OPAC from their respective departments through the campus LAN.
The Central Library has also established Virtual Library by procuring IT infrastructure. Xeon Server E5-2603v3, 6-core/15MB/85W Processor and 50 Nos. of HP Elite Desktop 800 G1 with TFT Monitors. The networking was also provided connecting to servers. The Digital Library and E-learning Software were also procured and loaded in the servers. The creation of archive data is in progress. The users can access in the Virtual Library through off-line.
Digital Library Software 4.0
Techfocuz digital library software is a complete software /hardware solution infrastructure that helps the customer to manage digital data - store , manage and retrieve in the most simple and ideal way. It will help the customers to store all their digital data archives available in the form of CDs, DVDs, files in to the digital library software server in a very logical way exactly like how he stores it in a books library. The software will be having two interfaces, Admin interface and Client interface.
Admin (Most of the time, a librarian or IT manager) can create categories and store this above data in the form of ISO images inside the server. Further, they can create the users and give this powers to access the categories and data inside it.
The client interface is a web client and if the customer is having plans to host the Digital library server, it is possible.Users has been empowered with Content search, Keyword search, photo gallery, Cd emulation softwares, Dublin standard file archive facilities etc, which makes this software a truly outstanding product when compared with others that is in the market.
Institutional Repository (IR)
It is also proposed to establish IR (Institutional Repository) a digital archive of research out-put created by the faculty, Research Scholars and Dissertations of PG/M.Tech. programmes and able to access through on-line to the end-user in the institute. The procurement of relevant IT infrastructure i.e hard disk-caching server, systems and furniture etc. are in the pipeline.
The DELNET (Developing Library Network) New Delhi connectivity is also provided in the Library for searching Bibliographical databases and abstracts of various technical subjects of the other institutions.
The Central Library houses an audio-visual section with 2 sets of TVs and VCRs. A good collection of Educational Videos are available on varied subjects.
EDUSAT is the first Indian Satellite designed and developed exclusively for serving the educational sector. It is mainly intended to meet the demand for an interactive satellite based distance education system for the country.
It is a collaborative project of ISRO, MHRD, AICTE and IGNOU. A satellite terminal has been installed in September 2005 at NIT, Warangal under EDUSAT to receive on-line lectures from ISRO HUB, IGNOU, AICTE covering various subjects of Science and Technology.
