    Masters in Business Administration (MBA)

    The Masters in Business Administration (MBA) program offered by the School of Management is exclusively for engineering graduates.

    Pedagogy

    MBA program of NITW consists of a combination of various teaching methods such as cases, research papers, projects, computer-aided instructions, class participation, lectures, seminars by participants and guest lectures from industry and government. The case and research papers are the predominant pedagogical tools. Thereby, the participant's analytical skills get improved and assist them to analyze problems by considering multi-functional perspectives. The instructors mainly guide the group and encourage participants to develop and defend their ideas including decision-making.

    Structure

    It lasts for 8 terms spread over two years program with a summer project in between the two years. The summer project duration is 8 weeks and participants are required to put their ideas and skills to work in established and reputed companies from various sectors. The selection of the company is left to the participants choice.

    The first year consists of core subjects that provide the fundamental knowledge, analytical skills & techniques, contextual understanding, environmental awareness and overall perspective which serve as the bedrock for the programme. The areas covered are economics, human resource management, finance, information technology, marketing, operations, quantitative research, and strategy.

    In the second year, participants along with certain advanced subjects select major and minor electives. The electives assist participants to get a deeper understanding in the functional area of their choice. In the terms five, six, and seven, participants will need to take two subjects from their major elective and one subject from their minor elective. The choices for both major and minor electives are from the following areas:

    1. Financial Management
    2. Information Technology.
    3. Marketing Management
    4. Operations Management
    5. Organizational Behavior & Human Resource Management

     

    Apart from the above, the participants need to complete a project work of 12 weeks duration. The final term is exclusively assigned for project work. 

    Blending Theory and Practice

    MBA program of NITW prides itself in the hiring of professors of practice., which allows professionals with 15-20 years of industry experience to become a full-time faculty. During the coursework, they provide examples from the 'trenches' and provide a practicum-based course of study.
