I am glad that NIT Warangal has successfully established the Centre of Excellence for Digital Manufacturing and Automation in the theme area of “Industry 4.0 and Digitalization” to facilitate R&D and training. The centre strives in supporting budding entrepreneurs from product ideation to designing the digital twin of the manufacturing system and verifying its working through the smart factory lab. It is a multidisciplinary centre with 13 laboratories namely Product Design, Advanced Manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing, Internet of Things (IOT), Mechatronics, Robotics, CNCMachines, and Automation lab. In addition, the centre focuses on providing skill development opportunities for academia and Industry. This CoE is envisioned as a link that aligns the industry requirements with technical education to make industry-ready engineering graduates.
The centre has designed various learning modules for Engineering, Polytechnic and ITI students for developing technical skills, enhancing knowledge, and opening up recruitment and start-up opportunities. Moreover, the CoE offers learning opportunities for industry personnel, practicing engineers and researchers apart from faculty in technical institutions. These learning tracks are jointly certified by Siemens and NIT Warangal. The CoE also offers consultancy services to the industry in the area of Digital Manufacturing.
I urge all the stake holders to make the best use of the state of the art technology available in this CoE. I hope this CoE will provide a platform to achieve the mission of self-reliant India.
